Focused Attention is a Norwich-based talking therapy practice, specialising in the treatment of anxiety-based issues using a combination of evidence-based techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Hypnotherapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). All of these techniques are proven, evidence-based ways to reduce anxiety and ultimately lead to a better quality of life.
When I work with clients, we often start by exploring the patterns of thinking and behaviour that exacerbate stress and anxiety and how these often occur in repeating cycles. We may explore the nature and function of anxiety to give us a better understanding of how to cope with it. I often teach evidence-based relaxation and mindfulness techniques which are proven to lower the stress response. I may help you re-appraise thinking patterns or alter the way you relate to your thoughts. We may also look at the behaviours we can change, often tacking these in small manageable steps. The combination of these techniques boosts confidence, increases performance, manages stress and ultimately reduces anxiety.
I offer confidential bespoke collaborative therapy sessions focused specifically to help you achieve the goals that we agree together. I also offer interactive workshops for groups and organisations that want to improve stress-management and build resilience across their workforce.
What is Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH)?
Many of you may be familiar with the practice of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which is a relatively recently developed and practical form of psychotherapy that focuses on the interaction of thoughts, emotions and behaviours. You may also be familiar with the concept of hypnosis, although clinical evidence-based hypnosis is very different from most people's ideas derived from popular culture or stage performers. Focused Attention is a Norwich-based therapy practice which uses Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH). This is a recent integration of CBT and hypnosis. It enables us to challenge and change unhelpful behaviours by using imagination and positive suggestion.
